ABOUT US
Deveron Stud was founded in Perth, Western Australia in 1975 with the purchase of the outstanding liver chestnut Anglo Arabian mare, Summer Clare (Summer Storm x Mount Clare ASB).

Her purchase, although unplanned at the time, was obviously meant to be, as she was to found a line of very successful performance horses that are still today excelling in many disciplines.

Summer Clare's first foal, the Anglo filly, Deveron Monique by Moonglow was Clare's only filly before her tragic death at a very early age.  Clare and Monique dominated the showring in the West for many years and between them became a formidable duo to compete against.  Clare produced two colts, Deveron Marcel and Deveron Gaylord.  Marcel was an exceptional show horse winning hundreds of Championships both at halter and under saddle, mainly under the guidance of our daughter, Amanda.

When Monique was a 4yo it was decided, after much deliberation, to put her to her grandsire, Summer Storm, for her first foal.  The resulting bay colt, far exceeded our expectations - Deveron Duvall had arrived. Duvall was to become the cornerstone of Deveron Stud, ultimately changing the direction of our breeding programme.

In March 1984 the Stud moved to the eastern states, taking with us Duvall, Monique and Monique's foal at foot, Dumas.  It was from this point that our breeding direction headed towards producing performance horses who matured over 16 hands and who could be competitive  in Dressage, Eventing and Hacking.  Duvall had by now  grown into a very commanding 'look at me' colt with brilliant movement and an exceptional show record which included 4 Royal Show Championships.  However it was through the outstanding success of his progeny that the results of his line breeding really came to the fore.  We found that by putting Duvall over Thoroughbred mares we consistently produced foals with not only show quality looks and a good temperament, but they also had powerful, ground covering movement combined with size and substance needed for the competition horse of the future.  Quality, not quantity has always been our aim and still is today, with only one or two foals born each year.

In 1996 we introduced Warmblood horses into our breeding  program with the idea that we could build onto what we had already achieved with our Anglo Arabians. With the Warmblood influence we believed we could offer a scopier, bigger moving horse, which would be a more attractive package to the performance horse market. The Arabian Warmblood mare, Gutherzig (Grand Flaneur) was our first Warmblood mare, and what a mare she has turned out to be.  Without exception all of her  foals have been of the highest quality, many having the most breathtaking movement.  To date she has had 6 foals, all sired by D. Duvall.

Duvall has four sons standing at stud, these include the very successful sire and show horse, the Anglo Arabian stallion Penmarric Picasso, owned by Willowmere Stud.  His Arabian Warmblood sons include Coranderk Daintree and Deveron Di Maggio and also the up and coming young colt, Deveron du Barrie. He is a full brother to Di Maggio and is destined for a great future with Marshanti Performance Horses of Mullumbimby NSW.

Deveron Di Maggio is the next step in our breeding program and he is a rightful heir to follow in his sire's footsteps.  Already his foals are winning hearts everywhere, with their quality, super friendly temperaments and superb movement.   Di Maggio passed his Preliminary License with the ACE Group, being  one of only eight colts  Australia wide to pass their classification.

At present there are a number of Duvall's progeny making their presence felt in the show/dressage arena, including Coranderk Durante, Belcata Danita, Deveron La Bamba and Deveron Annakova and the very successful, Deveron Di Angelo.

From 1992 to 2012 Deveron Stud was situated in Victoria, in the Goulburn Valley near the small town of Tatura.
